But for pushing high GRs above GR125 or so, you still need the cannot-die relic for them to survive. With the defensive legendary gems and with high stats on their gear, followers can survive well above GR100 now without the cannot-die relic. There are some reasons why experienced users might want to use a different follower token (for access to all follower skills or lower cooldown for follower skills). Most people will use the "follower cannot die" relic anyway, so defensive gems are not very useful for followers anyway. In general, the advice that "legendary gems don't work on followers" is decent advice for new users, despite the two exceptions. The gem powers do not emanate to you, however. Esoteric Alteration and Mutilation Guard are the two gems that work on followers. ![]() Yeah, maxroll is correct (and they are a trustworthy source on up to date D3 info and the latest builds).
